Film school · Lesson 2 of 7

Make a Minecraft explainer

One sentence about how something works, staged in a block world.

The steps

  1. Write the idea. Press New video and write one sentence about how something works.
  2. Pick the engine. Choose Minecraft Explained engine. It comes with Lumen and needs no game, no mods and no screen recording.
  3. Check the length. The engine makes vertical 9:16 films, up to a minute and a half.
  4. Create it. Lumen writes the script, voices it and stages every line: sets, cast, cameras, HUD and captions.
  5. Direct it shot by shot. In the Shot panel, set the light, framing, camera angle and each actor's pose. The other shots stay as they are.
